TEK17 (§17-1)

Norway's building regulation requiring a greenhouse-gas account for new housing blocks and commercial buildings, in force since 1 July 2022.

What is TEK17 (§17-1)?

TEK17 §17-1 is the section of the Norwegian building regulations that requires a greenhouse-gas account for materials in new apartment blocks and commercial buildings. It has applied to applications submitted since 1 July 2022, and it is enforced by the municipality as part of the building permit.

The account is calculated to NS 3720 over a 50-year study period and covers the material phases of the building. It has to be documented per building part, with the quantities and the EPD data behind every figure traceable, which is why it is far easier as a by-product of the design work than as a document written at the end.

How Reduzer supports TEK17 (§17-1)

Ready-made TEK17 report template, "Klimagassregnskap fra materialer", laid out the way the municipality expects it.
NS 3720 is built in, with the 50-year study period and the TEK17 sub-scheme phase selection set for you.
Quantities come from your BIM model or quantity list, and every figure keeps a link back to the EPD it came from.
Documentation builds up from the early phase, so the climate account is an export of work already done, not a late scramble.
Sub-scheme variants for housing blocks and commercial buildings are handled as separate report versions on the same project.

FAQs

What Reduzer is, who it's for, and how it helps you reduce emissions and stay in control.

Which buildings does TEK17 §17-1 apply to?

New apartment blocks and commercial buildings covered by the regulation, for applications submitted from 1 July 2022. Small houses and holiday homes are outside the requirement.

Which life-cycle phases must the account cover?

The material phases: A1–A3 production, A4 transport to site, A5 construction, plus B2 and B4 for maintenance and replacement, following the TEK17 sub-schemes.

Does Reduzer produce the TEK17 report itself?

Yes. Pick TEK17 as the scheme on the project and the report template is filled from your model, you export a documented klimagassregnskap with the calculation basis attached.
